The problem of the study was that over the past few years quite a good number of highly skilled and trained staff have voluntary resigned and left the bank for competitor firms in-spite of being offered with better rewards .The purpose of the study was to investigate whether the training programs offered to staff at Stanbic bank had effects on retention of bank employee. The research was based on two main research objectives: to find out the relationship between on-job training and employee retention in commercial bank in Uganda, to examine the relationship between off-job training and employee retention in commercial bank in Uganda. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis using a sample of 48 respondents. Survey questionnaires, interview guides were mainly used for data collection and were used to analyze qualitative data. Purposive sampling technique was used to select key informants while the rest of the respondents were selected using census and quantitative sampling. Data analysis was done using SPSS software. The research outcomes revealed that each variable under consideration in the Training Programs (On-Job training and Off-Job training) has a positive contribution in terms of influence on employee Retention. The Degrees of Coefficient of Determination (R2), Correlation Analyses, and Predictive modeling all revealed that; On-Job training had the greater influence on Employee Retention at Stanbic Bank. Hypotheses testing have also strongly and positively predicted well of On-Job training. Due to time constraint, the study was centered on staff training and employee retention in stanbic bank Uganda .For further research, studies can be done on other areas like leadership style and employee retention and also work environment, non-monitory factors and employee retention at stanbic bank Uganda.enStaff TrainingEmployee RetentionStanbic BankUgandaStaff training and employee retention in stanbic bank Uganda Limited.
