Item The contribution of Infection Control to Minimizing Tuberculosis transmission in Mbarara main Prison -Uganda(Uganda Management Institute, 2015-01) Asiimwe, RaymondThe study, investigated the contribution of infection control measures to minimizing TB transmission in Mbarara main prison. It specifically looked at managerial, administrative and personal protective TB infection control measures on in minimising TB transmission in Mbarara main prison. The study adopted case study design, the study involved top management, staff members and health workers. The study used questionnaires and interviews and data was analysed to obtain descriptive and inferential statistics as well as expressions and narrative statements. In the study it was agreed that there is a positive significant relationship between managerial TBIC measures and TB transmission, also there is a positive significant relationship between administrative TBIC measures and TB transmission and it was also revealed that there is a positive significant relationship between personal TB protective measures TB transmission. It was therefore concluded that the facility has TBIC in place to control and monitor TB transmission, there are TBIC policies but they are not implemented, new inmates are not screened, stakeholders lack training, there is lack on ventilations in wards and personal protective gears. It was therefore recommended that convene meetings regularly, source for funds for capacity building on TBIC, put up isolation unit, put a policy in place for daily reports.
